Dundee Community Language Advisory Group (DCLAG ) was formed in September 1996 after a Public Meeting of all the Ethnic Communities in Dundee. They expressed their views and concerns regarding the lack of facilities for the young generation to carry on with the traditions and heritages of their parents and grandparents. Due to these concerns, DCLAG was formed. All the language tutors were working on a voluntary basis until December 1997 when they received a grant from the National Lottery Charities Board (Scotland).
The objectives of the group are to advance the education of the inhabitants of Dundee, particularly those within the Minority Communities irrespective of race, belief, gender or age by the promotion, establishment and development of community language schooling.
